Tamil cinema’s much-discussed and controversial film Draupathi is returning with its sequel Draupathi 2, which is scheduled to release in theatres on January 23, 2026. The historical action-drama is directed by Mohan G. and jointly produced by Netaji Productions and GM Film Corporation. The film has been made as a bilingual project in Tamil and Telugu.
Draupathi 2 Plot
Set in 14th-century South India, the story revolves around the Hoysala Empire as it confronts the rising influence of the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal forces. The narrative explores political power struggles between Madurai and Delhi, with themes of diplomacy, betrayal, and survival at its core. The character of Hoysala Emperor Vallalar III adopts strategic and diplomatic measures in an attempt to protect his kingdom from large-scale warfare.
Draupathi 2 Cast
Richard Rishi reprises his role as King Veera Simha Kadavarayan, while Rakshana Induchoodan plays the pivotal role of Draupathi Devi. The ensemble cast also includes Natty Nataraj, Vela Ramamoorthy, Chirag Jani as Mohammad Bin Tughlaq, Y. G. Mahendran, Bharani, Deviyyani Sharma, Ayesha, Divi, and Saravana Subbiah in key roles.

The film’s music is composed by Ghibran, enhancing its grand historical atmosphere. Philip Raj Sunder handles the cinematography, while S. Devaraj is in charge of editing. Art direction is by Kamalanathan S, and the costume design has been undertaken by director Mohan G. himself.
Originally planned for a Pongal release, Draupathi 2 was later rescheduled to January 23, 2026, aligning with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary.
