Dhadak 2 is a Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Shazia Iqbal and written by Rahul Badwlekar and Shazia Iqbal. The film is produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. The production team includes Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Arora, Soman Mishra and Pragati Deshmukh. The 146-minute film is releasing in theaters on 1 August 2025. The film is not only a soulful sequel to the 2018 Dhadak but also an authorized Hindi remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal.

The film revolves around a young couple who come from different social backgrounds, and fight a strict, discriminatory society for their love. The story is a powerful blend of romance and social commentary.

Dhadak 2 Production Process
The pre-production of the film began in April 2023. The official announcement was made on 15 May 2025 with a musical teaser, which gave a glimpse of the lead characters. The shooting of the film began in November 2024. The basis of its story is taken from Mari Selvaraj’s 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal.
Dhadak 2 Music
The songs of the film are composed by Rochak Kohli, Tanishk Bagchi, Javed–Mohsin and Shreyas Puranik, while the background score is by Tanuj Tiko. Lyricists include Rashmi Virag, Siddharth–Garima, Gurpreet Saini and Ozil Dalal.

Dhadak 2 Release
The film was earlier scheduled to release on 22 November 2024, then it was postponed to 21 February 2025. Both these dates were missed due to problems related to the censor board and delay in production. Now the film is all set to release on 1 August 2025.
Dhadak 2 Budget
The estimated total budget of Dhadak 2 is around ₹55–60 crores. This estimation is according to sources and media reports linked to the film. Out of this, about ₹40 crores has gone into production expenses — which includes the cost of shooting, set design, cast fees, and technical team. Whereas ₹15–20 crores have been spent on promotion, music rights, digital marketing and release publicity. Since the film is made under big banners like Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, it is also expected to earn well from OTT and satellite rights, which can recover the cost in the first phase itself.
