Maareesan is a Tamil language comedy-thriller film directed by Sudhish Shankar and written by V. Krishnamurthy. The film stars Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead roles. It is produced by R. B. Chowdhary under the banner of Super Good Films. The film is set to release in theaters on 25 July 2025. The run time of the film is 152 minutes.

The story revolves around Velayudham Pillai and Dhaya, whose lives are connected by an unexpected journey. The film begins with a road trip, where the chemistry and conflict between these two characters makes the audience laugh as well as think. The film also opens its layers of nostalgia through classic songs like ‘Aaha Inba Nilavinile’, which emotionally connects the lovers of old films.

Maareesan Production and Technical Team

The film is directed by Sudhish Shankar while the script is written by V. Krishnamurthy. The producer is R. B. Chowdhary, who presented the film under the Super Good Films banner. Cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji and the film is edited by Sreejith Sarang. The shooting of the film began in January 2024 and about 50% of the shooting was completed by April. The next schedule was held in Chennai in October 2024. The teaser of the film shows the chemistry of Vadivelu and Fahadh in a road trip, which attracts the audience.

Maareesan Music

The music of the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has also handled the background score. The two major singles – “FaFa Song” (releasing on 9th July 2025) and “Maareesa” (releasing on 19th July 2025) have already become popular among the masses. The first song is sung by Mathichiyam Bala while the second is sung by Yuvan himself.

Maareesan Budget

This is estimated to be a mid-range Tamil film. It may cost around ₹25–30 crores. This is especially true considering the variety of cast and locations.
