Mahavatar Narsimha Plot

The story begins with the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who performs severe penance and is blessed with immortality. In his arrogance, he declares himself to be God and tries to bring the entire world under his rule. But his son Prahlad is a true devotee of Lord Vishnu and worships Him under all circumstances.

Hiranyakashipu, angered by his own son’s devotion, punishes him severely, but each time Lord Vishnu protects Prahlad in one form or another. Finally, when Hiranyakashipu in his arrogance claims that no one can kill him—neither during the day nor at night, neither by man nor by animal Lord Vishnu appears in the form of Narasimha.

He comes in the form of half lion and half human and catches hold of Hiranyakashipu at dusk and kills him with his nails. In this way, Lord Narasimha destroys adharma and re-establishes dharma and protects the devotee Prahlad.
